Effective date: 2026-08-05 Data controller: FxTrak Inc
Transduce is desktop software that processes your video files locally, on your own machine. It does not upload your source footage or rendered output anywhere as part of normal operation. Your license is a signed file emailed to you at purchase and verified entirely offline — the app does not phone home to validate it. The main place data leaves your machine is an optional crash report you'd have to send us yourself. That's genuinely the whole picture as of this writing — confirmed by reading the actual code, not asserted from a template.
When you buy a license (or sign up for a trial), we generate a signed
license file recording the email address you used, the edition (trial or
paid), the date issued, and your entitled major version — see EULA.md
Section 2. This is stored in our own database on our hosting provider
(Bluehost) so we can resend or look up a license if you lose it. We do
not collect a hardware or machine fingerprint of any kind.
If you buy a license, Polar.sh (Polar Software Inc) — our payment processor and Merchant of Record — collects your payment and billing details directly. We receive your email and order/transaction details from Polar so we can issue your license, but never your full card number.
The Software writes a local crash log to ~/.ai2film/crash.log (macOS
path shown; equivalent on other platforms) when it encounters a fatal
error. This file stays on your machine and is never transmitted
automatically. If you choose to send it to us for support purposes
(e.g. attaching it to a support email), you're sharing it deliberately —
that's the only path by which we'd ever see it.
[If this changes before release —
e.g. an opt-in "help improve Transduce" usage-analytics feature gets
added — this document needs updating before that ships, not after.]If you install a community-authored module (see EULA.md Section 4),
that module is third-party code we do not control, and it could
theoretically access data differently than described above. We're not in
a position to audit every community module's data practices — that's a
real, current limitation of the module system, not something this policy
can paper over. Install modules from sources you trust.
| Purpose | Provider | What they see |
|---|---|---|
| Payment processing (Merchant of Record) | Polar Software Inc (Polar.sh) | Billing/payment details, email, order details |
| Website + license database hosting | Bluehost | Standard web server logs (IP address, pages visited); your license record (email, edition, issue date) |
We don't sell your data to anyone, for any purpose.
License and purchase records are retained for as long as needed to
provide support and honor legal/tax obligations ([confirm retention
period with counsel]). You can request account/license data deletion by
contacting us (Section 7) — see Section 6 for jurisdiction-specific
rights that may apply.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or
delete your personal data, or to object to certain processing (e.g. under
GDPR if you're in the EU/UK, or CCPA if you're a California resident).
[This section needs real legal content once jurisdiction of sale is
confirmed — this draft is a placeholder acknowledging these rights
exist, not a compliant implementation of them.]
support@transducemedia.com — Bluehost's plan only supports two mailboxes (licenses@ and support@), so there's no separate privacy@ address; support@ covers this too.
We'll update the effective date above when this policy changes materially, and post the updated version here and/or in-app.
